{"product_id":"acik-planlamaya-dogru-ilhan-tekeli","title":"Towards Open Planning","description":"\u003cp\u003eThe title \"Towards Open Planning\" is not only used to point to a trend in urban planning in the world and in Turkey, but more importantly, it serves as a call\/suggestion to Turkey to change the existing closed urban planning practice and institutional structure. I am one of the three students in the first class of the METU Department of City and Regional Planning, which started education in 1961 as the first urban planning department in Turkey. In the 62 years that have passed from that beginning to the present day, I have continuously tried to develop thoughts on Turkey's urban practice and the social consequences of this practice. I have made a long intellectual journey. The understanding of open planning represents the point I have reached at the end of this journey. I am still at the beginning of the open plan idea. In the last year, I have written nine articles from different perspectives on this topic at this starting point, and I continue to write. This excites me greatly. I know that the transition to an open plan will not happen with a publication made by an academician alone. In order to switch to a new effective planning, this issue needs to be discussed and adopted by society\/the professional community, and developed with the contributions of actors at various levels of academia and the practical world. I also find such a transition, to be realized with collective contributions, more democratic and exciting. From this perspective, I viewed the transformation of the accumulation formed at the beginning of a formation process into a publication positively.
