Heavy walls in structures were replaced by lightweight steel skeletons, making buildings lighter, which in turn allowed for taller structures and larger spans. Steel is a material that offers architects and engineers unique possibilities such as design power, efficiency, and sculptural expression. The purpose of this publication is to introduce large-span steel structure technologies to architects and architecture students and to provide information that we believe can assist them in drawing their projects.
