Because of my jumping from branch to branch in so many different fields, those close to me initially described me as 'fickle,' but now, perhaps due to my age, they have begun to find me 'versatile'; some even say 'charismatic'!

In this book, I tried to reveal the development and accumulation of my years lived. I must state that a large part of what I wrote is not based on accumulated notes and old comments.

I believe that the dynamic environment of contrasts in our country provides rich material suitable for writing. Turkey, a country of contrasts, is a peninsula extending between black and white. Geographically even so: the Black Sea to the north, the Mediterranean to the south... Moreover, black and white are reflected in everything we do. Are we European, or Asian? Don't those living in Istanbul often find themselves European in the morning and Asian in the evening (or vice versa)? In my opinion, contrasts and contradictions, black and white, are both the richness and the hindrance of our country, which oscillates between Europe and Asia. We are all products of this geography. What we have experienced, where we have come in these last seventy years... I believe that what you will read will bear witness to the period it covers, across a wide geography.

The Atatürk era was like a sweet dream for Turkey. We have been extravagantly consuming the material and spiritual accumulation from that period since the 1940s. This situation not only affects our generations; the values and heritage to be passed on to future generations are also being consumed. Therefore, in many parts of the book, how 'the past of the future was eaten' is presented with examples. That's why the book is titled Geleceğin Geçmişini Yemişler (They Ate the Past of the Future)...”

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0523/3950/7395/products/Gelecegin_Gecmisini_Yemisler_ON_KAPAK.jpg?v=1616920898
