Accepting that knowledge has social foundations does not contradict the concept of objectivity. On the contrary, we believe that a reconstruction, carried out by evaluating criticisms of past practices and establishing genuinely more pluralistic and universalist structures, can enhance the objectivity of the social sciences. In this report, we have tried to demonstrate three things.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFirst, how social science, as a form of knowledge, historically emerged and why it fragmented into a relatively standard set of disciplines in the period extending from the late eighteenth century to 1945.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSecond, what questions the global developments since 1945 have raised regarding this intellectual division of labor, thereby bringing the organizational structure established in the previous period back into discussion.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThird, by explicating a series of fundamental intellectual questions that have been much debated in recent years, to identify a stance that seems optimal to us for advancing in answering the question \"what kind of social science now?\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUltimately, we want to discuss the restructuring of the social sciences in light of this history and recent debates.
