Rebel Cities

In 2008, an economic crisis erupted in the real estate and related financial sectors in the US, which had been speculatively inflated since 2001, and quickly engulfed all of Europe. Rebel Cities analyzes this period where the gap between the crisis narrative constructed by neoliberal economics and the position of the masses, who are compensating for the crisis through their own lives, is widening. The book, with one foot on the street, also offers a long-term conceptual analysis in favor of direct action. Here, Harvey succinctly presents his understanding of urban economics, which he has been developing since the second half of the 1980s, while also examining what new directions conceptual questions and analyses might indicate for urban social movements.
