Dam Safety

Dam safety covers various issues ranging from dam classification to project criteria, from dam deficiencies to dam failures, from dam inspection to safety programs, from failure modeling to dam monitoring, from measurement systems to measuring instruments. Dam safety affects not only existing dams but also the standards, project criteria, specifications, and guidelines of dams to be built during their planning, design, and construction phases. Although some studies have been carried out in Turkey on this subject, there is no comprehensive work covering the entire topic. However, it is necessary to carry out various studies in Turkey, from project criteria such as spillway design flood and diversion design flood to guidelines and specifications, and to update existing regulations in line with global trends and evolving economy and technology.
