With the influence of Bauhaus on art, design, and architecture education spreading across a vast geography and time, German design culture has deeply affected the design culture of the modern age. This study focuses on the relationship between Bauhaus, established to integrate the perception of production with aesthetic creativity by meeting the needs of industry that emerged with the industrial revolution, and the schools founded, programs conducted, and thought system adopted with these principles in Turkey. This aims for a better understanding of Bauhaus's innovative and experimental teaching tradition as a design school based on the intellectual accumulation of the era that fundamentally influenced art education.
Bauhaus is one of the most important harbingers and precursors of a series of radical transformations in art, craft, industry, and education in the 20th century. Its main purpose can be briefly expressed as improving industrial production through education in the common interaction of art, industry, and craft. Thus, as aimed by Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius, an attempt was made to re-establish the unity of arts and crafts separated by industrialization and to restructure the people and society of the century with this system of values. A common design language was achieved with the profile of the newly educated artist and the standards brought to functional and aesthetic expectations. In this context, its position in our country as a meeting point for art, design, and architecture education, with its educational approach that paves the way for individual personal experiences and discoveries, is also considered very important.
