Space in Information Centers

From its earliest examples to the present day, the building has been one of the fundamental elements that brought information centers into existence and defined their identity. At the same time, the meaning, content, and implications of the building, which are directly related to basic human needs such as shelter and protection, are directly affected by the changing dynamics of life. Today, the transformation shaped largely by information and information technologies has elevated the building to a point of value, considered for its architectural features and spatial capabilities. At this juncture, the architecture and spatial characteristics of information centers, along with many elements they encompass—from ergonomics to comfort, aesthetics to security—are among the most important criteria for an institution's service adequacy, value, social prestige, and overall perception.
