Ceramics in the Aegean from Byzantium to the Modern Era

Ceramics in the Aegean from Byzantium to the Modern Era is the first general introduction and handbook written about medieval and later Aegean ceramics, an important part of Mediterranean archaeology despite being under-researched scientifically. This publication is a groundbreaking reference book, comprehensively presenting the most important Post-Classical ceramic types dating from the Early Byzantine period to the Early Modern period, found in museums and archaeological studies conducted around the Aegean Sea.

This handbook includes descriptions of approximately 80 ceramic types with basic bibliographic references, recent scientific discussions of chronological issues, and a glossary of technical terms. Koç University Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) hopes to make this publication more accessible to archaeologists, field workers, scholars, and students in Turkey, as well as to everyone interested in the history of the Eastern Mediterranean during the Byzantine and Ottoman periods, by translating it into Turkish.
