Product Description

The famous traveler Théophile Gautier (1811-1872) describes the Bosphorus as follows:

"It would take too long to describe each of these villages, which follow one another and are separated by very small differences. Rows of painted wooden houses, resembling the small villages in Nuremberg toy boxes, stretch along the quays, plunging their feet into the sea where there is no room for a hamla. These houses appear against a rich green background from which chalk-white minarets spring. Further up, gently sloping ridges rise under a bluish light descending from the sky. Sometimes, faced with these views, one seeks to see a steeper ridge, a barer cliff, the bone of a rock piercing the earth's skin. However, these sights are too elegant, too festive, too ornate and too well-groomed. Here, a few sections need to be appreciated, with sharply defined brushstrokes."

Bosphorus yalıs are exquisite structures that bear witness to the interesting history of the Bosphorus.

Is that all? Of course not. It's almost like a magnificent oil painting by an artist that inspires travelers, writers, artists, musicians, ordinary citizens, in short, almost everyone, and allows them to dream... In his four-part work, on which he worked for years, Erdem Yücel makes important notes on history. While recounting the history of Bosphorus yalıs from past to present, he also does not neglect to warn.

Bosphorus Yalıs is a guide with interesting stories that you won't be able to put down...
