Child and Architecture

Childhood, which first gave us a perspective on how we see the world, the role of parenting, and children with whom we share public spaces, has been discussed under many headings. But how conscious are we of the importance of the space where childhood takes place, and the architecture that gives meaning to that space, in the child's mind? How much a school journey nourishes a child's dream world, the placelessness of children who are bored among the tired adults of the modern city, the artificiality of parks, and the impact of space on their psychology invite us to ask new questions about the city. The effect of freeing houses, museums, and schools, which appear enormous in childhood, from the narrow meanings imposed by adults on child development is being examined by experts in various fields, from architecture to psychology. The relationship between children and architecture, from the boundaries of public space to windows that allow us to see the world, is examined in all its aspects in this work compiled by Abdi Güzer.
