Plural Aesthetics

Plural Aesthetics begins by discussing the definitions of art and aesthetics through the concepts of "beauty" and "truth," then examines the relationship between existence and image, the relationship between art and truth, the problems of representation, and the connection between aesthetic differences in different societies and culture and the perception of time-space. The book explores the fundamental differences between Western and non-Western cultures, while also showing how these differences influence each other and ultimately form re-converging opposites. Jale Nejdet Erzen, perhaps precisely for this reason, argues that art can be approached from many different angles, and all of them can carry a certain share of truth: She points out that the distinguishing quality of art, as well as excitement and passion, can only gain meaning through this "plurality."
