As in every edition, all sections of the book have been reviewed, and changes and additions have been made to this edition to include new information in earthquake engineering and the Earthquake Code. This presented edition of the book provides information on earthquake engineering and earthquake-resistant building design, along with the rules and explanations in the Turkish Building Earthquake Code.

Engineers who will be designing entire structural systems with computer software in the future must also have a certain level of understanding of structural behavior and possess the theoretical background to use the main relationships. Furthermore, understanding the fundamental assumptions of the rules found in relevant codes will help in soundly solving problems that may arise during their application. For this reason, care has been taken in the book to provide the theoretical foundations when explaining code rules.

The importance of earthquake hazard in our country was the main reason that prompted the author to prepare this book. Providing fundamental information on the subject to students and highlighting its importance to practicing engineers were the main considerations in the book's arrangement.
