Product Description
Cilicia has always been a focal point for researchers due to the large number of ancient monuments that have survived to the present day. The mountainous part of Cilicia is notable for its challenging geography and rocky geological structure. This necessitated that mountainous Cilicia, like Phrygia, Lycia, Caria, and Paphlagonia, be a region where advanced examples of rock-cut architecture were found in ancient times. The eastern part of mountainous Cilicia, particularly between the Lamos (Limonlu) and Kalykadnos (Göksu) Rivers, is especially rich in rock-cut monuments. Eastern Mountainous Cilicia is a prominent region for rock-cut monuments within the Cilicia region. However, these monuments have not yet been the subject of a comprehensive study regarding their architectural designs on their facades. This book aims to address this deficiency, featuring forty-six rock-cut monuments; it is clear that this will help in understanding the unilluminated aspects of the region's architecture.
