Ecofiction

There are multiple ways to combat ecological disasters and their harms. If one dimension of this struggle is changing the dominant structure, the other is ecological wisdom and empathy with nature. For individuals who do not dominate nature but rather consider themselves a part of it, literature opens new doors of hope.

Ecofiction has explored how nature and the environment are perceived in literature, what crimes have been committed against them, how they were committed, and what solutions have been developed for them. Ecofiction works of American origin written in the 21st century have been examined, and analyses that will shed light on the present and future have been made. If there is literature, there is still hope.

Sezgin Toska invites people to reflect once again on ecology and sustainable living through literature and literary studies, and to draw inspiration from literature to take action. The broad spectrum of ecofiction makes literature a solution to ecological problems.
