Product Description

This book describes a studio practice that takes place within architectural education. It is an attempt to "re-think" the recent past experience. While examining the elements of the experience one by one and in as much detail as possible, it also tries to shed light on what could not be adequately articulated and conceptualized in the rapid flow of time. It examines the studio practice in the context of its possible effects and relates the elements of the experience to this context.

While different studio experiences are lived in different environments in each semester of architectural education, an attempt to make an anatomical examination of one of them involves more than exhibiting/describing the work and products of a studio. Design studios are the most intense and unique environments of architectural education. Much thought has been given to these environments, and models have been developed. Today's design studios, however, show great diversity. While studio contents are home to very different experiments, their relationship with the other parts of education and their contributions to vocational training are constantly questioned. Design studios are, in a sense, keystones. The definition, content, and position of this stone are also determinant for the other stones connected to it. For this reason, the experiences in design studios need to be opened to discussion with an understanding that goes beyond product exhibition and expectation of appreciation. Every studio produces a product in some way. What is necessary is to clarify the ideas that shape the product, reflect the approach to the era, architecture, and education, to conceptualize these ideas, and to make their mutual relationship with the product traceable. As these types of approaches increase, the true meaning and content of design studios will also become clear.

This work is a voluntary attempt on the narrative form of a design studio experience and the educational and architectural issues that arise from this narrative. The attempt aims to develop itself through the picture that emerges by presenting itself with an anatomical perspective, and in this sense, it is an effort of self-evaluation. It has been thought that this work, which will be completed by the reader's testimony, can shed light on young academic staff working in various fields of contemporary architectural education, architecture students at all levels, and all enthusiasts who have architecture in their hearts.

Reflecting on our own actions is the first step towards self-improvement through self-assessment. Based on this thought, I invite each of the studio experiences taking place in architectural education to present their own anatomical scrutinies to the environment. I hope that the book "From Interaction to Integration" will contribute to the architectural culture and architectural education of the country…
