The Book of Haydarpaşa: City, Space, Struggle

The Haydarpaşa Book: Space, City, Struggle, prepared by Kadıköy Academy, the urban research center of Kadıköy Municipality, has been published as the first publication in the Academy Series. This work deeply addresses the historical, cultural, and sociological importance of Haydarpaşa Station, comprehensively examining the different dimensions of the space.

The book presents a wide range of research and analyses including architectural history, cultural and industrial heritage, urban policy, political economy, urban transportation and planning, spatial identity, cinema and art studies, acoustic ecology and soundscape, urban social movements, and labor struggle. Additionally, testimonies from railway workers and trade unionists are included in the work.

This study, which contains the stories of Haydarpaşa Station in various forms such as a work of art, an architectural structure, a railway heritage, a space of resistance, a place where sounds meet, a neighborhood space, and a film frame, also records the potential of the station.
