Texture + Material in Interior Design

The aim of the book "Texture + Material" is not to show the student glossy images of beautiful materials and photographs of the places where they are found, but to help the student designer question where, when, how, and why a material can be used. The book has six main sections: Stone, Brick and Cement; Wood; Glass; Plastic; Composite; Ceramic Tiles; Coatings and Coverings. Each section examines a single material, describing its flaws, unique qualities, and historical, geographical, and cultural context. Readers are encouraged to consider the concept of sustainability in relation to the future use of each material. The text is accompanied by examples of both historical and contemporary applications. In the book, each section is devoted to a type of material that an interior designer or designer can use and appreciate. Examples from the past and present in the text illustrate the text and help place the material in a unique context. The author has addressed topics by choosing case studies that can be debated, such as sustainability.
