A Conversation with İlhan Tekeli on the Present and Future

İlhan Tekeli is one of the first students and one of the first faculty members of Turkey's first urban and regional planning department. He taught at METU for nearly 50 years and continues to do so today. He has had numerous students. Some of these students, who are now faculty members in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Gazi University, have evaluated their teacher's work through a deep reading of his Collected Works.

The book "İlhan Tekeli on the Present and the Future," which constitutes the 26th volume of the Collected Works, involves just such a deep reading. This book project developed as a result of an initiative by academics at Gazi University, "former students, now colleagues." In this project, the young academics aimed to discuss certain topics further with Tekeli, ask questions, and within this scope, explore how İlhan Tekeli views the present and the future.
