Product Description
This work was prepared to fill the gap in Turkish resources on "Engineering Economics for Civil Engineers" within the field of construction management, a discipline largely neglected in Turkey.
The book aims to raise awareness in this field by explaining the objectives and benefits of engineering economics. Since engineering education largely focuses on fulfilling existing specifications and regulations, it hinders the development of students' creative thinking abilities and their capacity to solve problems using different methods. Many of the solved examples compare different solution options to help aspiring engineers realize that an engineering problem can be solved in various ways. Scenario-based problems were created to help students be prepared for the challenges they may face in their professional lives.
The work explains the concepts of the time value of money and purchasing power at a level that a civil engineer can understand and use in their professional life, and also presents economic analysis methods to determine which of the different alternatives for solving a construction problem is more advantageous economically.
We hope that this book, prepared with the aim of contributing to civil engineers and firms, increasing their competitiveness, and helping them secure work in new international markets, will be eye-opening.
