Product Description
The book "Geology for Civil Engineers" covers the courses I have taught since 1991 in the Civil Engineering Department of Gazi University's Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. The rapid development in the application field of geology has enabled us to include and teach new topics in this fourth edition of our book. The widespread use of geological data in different areas of Civil Engineering's Geotechnical, Earthquake Engineering, and Hydraulic main branches has led to even faster development in geology compared to previous years.
In our age, developed countries give due importance to the science of geology. Consequently, they make the best use of their resources such as oil, minerals, and groundwater, and also manage to survive natural disasters like earthquakes, landslides, and volcanoes with minimal damage, thanks to their thorough understanding of the Earth's surface they live on. Due to our country being on an active fault line, the science of geology needs to be taught much more effectively. In the final chapters of this edition, particular attention has been given to the assessment of engineering works in terms of the impact of geological events.
It will be a pleasure and source of happiness for us to see that our book is useful to researchers and practitioners in civil and geological engineering, and especially to students who wish to specialize in the geotechnical field.
