Engineering is the sum of efforts made to overcome a problem, facilitate a difficulty, and ensure social development and progress, based on physics, mathematics, and natural laws, and combining these laws with creativity. An engineer, in short, is a professional title meaning a person who is concerned with engineering and performs engineering work. On the other hand, the word "engineer" is defined in the Turkish Language Association dictionary as someone who has specialized in technical and social fields, such as public works (roads, bridges, buildings) to meet all kinds of human needs, agriculture, nutrition (food), sciences (physics, chemistry, biology, electricity, electronics), and machinery (aircraft, automobiles, engines, construction machinery), and has received a certain education. The word "mühendis" in our language is derived from the Arabic root "hendese," meaning "land surveyor who uses mathematics." The English word "engineer" is thought to have originated from "engine" and "ingenious," and from the Latin word "in generare," meaning "to create."
