Istanbul 2023

Sinan Logie and Yoann Morvan, who have observed the steps of the “Istanbul 2023” project firsthand in Istanbul’s ever-expanding peripheries, convey the effects of this expansion and change. On this walk, they cover a route extending from the “hellish” industrial zones of Gebze to Aydos Hill, from gated communities now visible almost everywhere in the city to shantytowns transformed with a completely different identity through urban renewal, and including “crazy projects” such as the Osmangazi Bridge, the third airport, the third bridge, and Kanal Istanbul.

They reveal not only the city’s transformation but also the disappearing old habits and new forms of entertainment acquired by society with this change, as well as the dangers that could arise if this growth continues uncontrolled.
