Mosques of Istanbul

In this work, the author examines the mosques of Istanbul, which present their beauties in a strange disorder and confusion, while also including the narratives of Evliya Çelebi, the great 17th-century Turkish traveler. In doing so, you witness the existence of a different story for each of Istanbul's mosques, building a bridge from the past to the present; Hidayet Mosque is aware that it exists to guide the sinful sailors of Bahçekapı's Melek Girmez street to the right path. Just as Kara Davut Paşa Mosque cannot erase the stain of the assassination of Young Osman from the treacherous Davut Paşa, Zal Mahmut Paşa Mosque has not forgotten the pain of Prince Mustafa's drowning. Kılıç Ali Paşa Mosque is a mosque befitting a Kapudan Pasha, built by filling in the sea. Piyale Paşa and Sinan Paşa mosques, whose wealth came from seven jars full of gold, are very proud to be Kapudan Pasha mosques. Köprülü Mosque is remembered for its library with over five thousand volumes of manuscripts and old printed works, and Mahmut Paşa Mosque for its bazaar consisting of two hundred and sixty-five shops. Teşvikiye Mosque is where the funerals of the famous and wealthy take place today, and Şakirin Mosque is the last modern mosque whose interior decorations were touched by a woman's hand.
