Barks is the first book by Georges Didi-Huberman, one of the most important names in contemporary art history and thought, to be published in Turkish. Despite its short length, this text, which carries a deep intellectual depth, originated from the author's visit to the Auschwitz Museum in 2011.

The "barks" that give the book its name refer to the bark Didi-Huberman peeled from one of the birch trees he saw as silent witnesses to the genocide during this visit. The photographs accompanying the text make visible the personal and intellectual relationship the author established with the place.

Barks is not only a poetic essay shaped around the concepts of space, memory, witnessing, seeing, and imagining, but also offers a critical perspective on the understanding of museums and museology.
