Kadıköy's Experience Depot Structures

Another work has been added to Kadıköy's documentary history. Six of the buildings that hold important memories for those living in Kadıköy and those whose paths have crossed Kadıköy, met readers under the title "Kadıköy's Experience Depository Buildings."

The book, which emerged from the extensive research of Dr. Architect Ayşe Gülçin Ural, a lecturer at Fenerbahçe University, was published by K-İletişim Yayınları and took its place among Istanbul's monographic works. Ayşe Gülçin Ural, who worked on the concept of "heterotopia" developed by Michel Foucault and translated into Turkish as "other space," examined Kadıköy's transformed spaces within this scope in her book "Kadıköy's Experience Depository Buildings."

In the book, Dr. Architect Ayşe Gülçin Ural emphasized that people of various religions, races, and cultures have lived in Kadıköy, one of Istanbul's oldest settlements, throughout history, and that structures reflecting this diversity have emerged, stating: "In this book, which focuses on Kadıköy's demographic diversity and history, six structures in Kadıköy have been selected for examination. These six structures have been evaluated through Foucault's concept of heterotopia."
