Solid waste management has become an increasingly important issue in every society due to a variety of reasons, including the annual increase in waste generated from domestic, industrial, and commercial activities, as well as processes in agriculture, energy, and other sectors; insufficient funds to effectively manage waste; the depletion of natural habitats and energy resources; and the lack of widespread use of environmentally friendly materials in manufactured products. Therefore, the implementation of up-to-date and modern training programs at national, regional, and local levels is an unavoidable necessity for establishing modern, implementable, and sustainable waste management strategies. The Solid Waste Management book, a product of the Waste-Train project, which was carried out within the framework of the European Union vocational training program and aims to improve the quality of education in Solid Waste Management, enhance skills and workforce mobility, and promote innovation, serves as a guidebook to the fundamentals of waste management.
