A Life Dedicated to Urban Studies

The Ruşen Keleş Tribute series has been prepared as a tribute to a pioneering figure behind countless articles, dozens of books, hundreds of academics, and thousands of students. This series, consisting of six books each focusing on different topics, is a first in Turkey by bringing together more than a hundred authors, befitting Ruşen Keleş, who broke new ground throughout his academic life of over fifty years.

Prepared with the contributions of numerous experts from Turkey and abroad in the fields of urbanization, local governments, environmental policies, history, political science, and economics, this work not only showcases Ruşen Keleş's academic persona but also offers a comprehensive perspective on human-city-environment relations.

The first book in the Ruşen Keleş Tribute series, "A Life Dedicated to Urban Studies: Ruşen Keleş," includes not only the pioneer urbanist's biography and a list of his works but also what his friends, colleagues, and students he trained have written about him. Through the memoirs shared here, the reader will not only get to know a successful scientist but also have the opportunity to learn about important events and figures who played a role in urbanism, Mülkiye (Faculty of Political Sciences), and Turkish history.
