As a result of metropolitanization, cities have changed in form and scale, significantly differentiating and transforming public spaces. This situation has necessitated the re-discussion of public space by various disciplines. For public spaces, which are imbued with very different physical and symbolic meanings and possess distinct characteristics and functions, to maintain these characteristics today depends on their proper programming, formation, and production within the urban environment. To achieve this, the relationship between public space and the city must be well-defined.
In this study, the spatial reflection of public space/city relations will be examined from different perspectives, and the reasons for the transformation and change in public spaces, especially in metropolitan areas, will be revealed. The necessity of addressing regulations concerning public spaces with new organizations will also be discussed.
