Winter: A History of a Season

Today, almost everyone closely follows the weather, so much so that meteorology applications are among the most downloaded. Winter, since ancient times, has been experienced with the same "coldness" but different meanings across various geographies and cultures; it has gained a cultural place in humanity's collective memory through diverse fields and practices, ranging from mythology to literature, painting to religious rituals, winter sports to natural disasters. This work examines all these meanings, analyzing the impact of a change we perceive as a simple natural phenomenon on humans and society. It argues that winter contains far more richness and diversity than all our negative associations and clichés that fill our minds.
