Product Description
Lost Turkish-Islamic Artifacts in Konya
Konya, the capital of the Anatolian Seljuks, appeared entirely as a Seljuk city, adorned with significant religious, military, administrative, civil, and educational structures of its period. These structures, while extensions of the historical development of Turkish art, created the Anatolian Seljuk style through the convergence of geography, climate, and the aesthetic taste of the artists of the era. Konya, which maintained its importance as a cultural center during the Ottoman period, was adorned with complexes and independent structures.
Konya, a historical Turkish city for approximately a thousand years, has excelled in every branch of art, yet holds a special place particularly in terms of architectural development and decorative elegance. Although the city possesses hundreds of Seljuk, beylik, and Ottoman artifacts, its historical fabric could not be fully preserved, and many structurally significant buildings have not survived to the present day. While some of these works perished due to lack of protection and maintenance, many were demolished during the city's urban development activities.
