Product Description
Building and Restoring examines the life and professional career of Mualla Eyüboğlu, one of Turkey's first female architects, spanning from the 1940s to the 1980s, based on her personal archive. Immediately after graduating from the Architecture Department of the State Academy of Fine Arts, Eyüboğlu worked on the establishment of Village Institutes, one of the most important initiatives of the Republic's ideology; in later periods of her career, she took part in the restoration of monumental Ottoman works such as Topkapı Palace and Rumelihisarı.
Various documents from Mualla Eyüboğlu's archive, including autobiographical notes, letters, professional notebooks, drawings, building photographs, and correspondence related to restoration processes, help us not only reconstruct the architect's portrait but also understand the architectural and restoration environment, both in thought and practice, of that period.
