Construction as a Constituent Discipline

In his book, the author has tried to develop a perspective on the discipline of construction, seen through the eyes of a civil engineer specializing in transportation. In this context, the book focuses on the discipline of construction (including transportation), discussing not only housing or merely superstructure but its entirety. However, what is discussed is also linked to neighboring disciplines beyond this, and as stated, this entire composition is presented from a transportation expert's viewpoint.

More clearly, transportation, as a field directly or indirectly related to almost every conceivable element of a city, is also a sub-discipline of civil engineering. Transportation has a strong connection with urban infrastructure. The discipline of civil engineering, in all its aspects, including infrastructure and superstructure, encompasses the entire city, all installation processes from start to finish, and many different facets.

Therefore, when looking at the discipline of civil engineering through the eyes of a transportation expert, its foundational character is understood more deeply. The book is structured within this perspective. In the book, considering the fact that our country is in the category of developing countries, the issue of infrastructure has been examined in detail, the issue of energy has been touched upon, and urbanization trends have been thoroughly addressed in parallel with transportation and construction. In this vein, the aforementioned connection has been shared with examples from different countries around the world.

With the discussed composition of the book, the central, interdisciplinary, supra-disciplinary, and in short, foundational nature of the civil engineering discipline becomes clearer.
