The Poetics of Space The Politics of Space

The book "The Poetics of Space, The Politics of Place: Ottoman Istanbul and British Orientalism" comprises the proceedings of the international symposium titled "Ottoman Istanbul and British Orientalism," held concurrently with the "The Lure of the East: British Orientalist Painting" exhibition at Pera Museum.

The book, which brings together the differing perspectives of experts from often disparate fields to examine 19th-century British Orientalist visual culture and late Ottoman visual culture histories, was prepared under the editorship of Prof. Zeynep İnankur from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Prof. Reina Lewis from London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London, and Prof. Mary Roberts from the University of Sydney.

It includes topics relevant to both art historical evaluations and curatorial practice, often encompassing discussions on contemporary cultural policies.
