Works of Mimar Sinan

The famous architect Le Corbusier, whose ideas continue to have an impact, expressed his admiration for the master architect by saying, “There are two architects in the world who can fully grasp space. One is Mimar Sinan, and the other is me.” The technical drawings, prepared as a result of years of work by Ali Saim Ülgen, who was commissioned by Atatürk to create the drawings for the book Mimar Sinan Structures, are preserved today in the Turkish Historical Society Archive. These drawings by Ali Saim Ülgen, one of the important figures of the generation of architects trained during the Ottoman period in the early years of the Republic, have been prepared for publication by art historian Dr. Murat Sav in cooperation with the Turkish Historical Society. The work, published in Turkish and English, is a prestigious publication with its special box. In this respect, the book is an important reference documenting Mimar Sinan's architectural heritage in both its technical and aesthetic dimensions.
