Architectural Sketch

Sketching, as one of the methods of expressing design thinking, holds a significant place in the design process as the foundation and starting point of architectural education. What is expected from a designer in an architectural sketch is the ability to freely express their thoughts with their unique lines, incorporating certain technical aspects and qualities in an architectural sense.

Individuals undergoing design education often fail to grasp the importance and technique of sketching, which is requested alongside technical drawings, and seek answers to the question 'How to do architectural sketching?' to resolve this. However, the limited availability of sketching resources in architectural literature hinders development and learning of the technique in this area.

This book aims to explain the systematic approach to architectural sketching to individuals in architectural education, while also developing the skill of transferring design thoughts into architectural sketches with unique lines. To this end, it aims for the designer to develop freehand-brain coordination by consistently applying the techniques learned step-by-step, starting with basic sketching techniques.

With enhanced sketching skills, it is expected that thoughts, ideas, and details in the mind will be concretized and transferred to paper through lines in every environment and at every stage of design. This expectation has been attempted to be expressed through basic sketch examples.
