Architectural Reflections

YEM Yayın has published a new book titled "Şengül Öymen Gür'e Armağan - Mimari Yansımalar" (A Gift to Şengül Öymen Gür - Architectural Reflections), edited by Gamze Kaymak Heinz and Dilek Yasar, prepared as a tribute to Prof. Dr. Şengül Öymen Gür, one of the exceptional figures who left their mark on architectural education in Turkey.

Undoubtedly, many valuable academics have contributed to architectural education in Turkey, from the past to the present. However, some stand out as exceptional; they leave a mark beyond being mere educators with their guiding role, universal and contemporary values, their belief in the necessity of art and culture in architectural education, as well as their high-quality human relations, especially their understanding and cheerful demeanor towards their students.

When designing "Mimari Yansımalar," prepared as a tribute to one of these exceptional figures, Prof. Dr. Şengül Öymen Gür, the aim was to create content that explores areas that Gür both worked on and was interested in throughout her academic life, such as architectural criticism, philosophy, theory, history, education, and housing culture. To this end, a book was produced with articles in Turkish and English by valuable academics who were invited, who had worked with Gür, or who were her students, thus contributing to the architectural literature.
