Product Description

M. İlhan Altan's new book, titled "Technical Drawing for Architecture and Interior Architecture Students," which aims to alleviate the fear of technical drawing for architecture and interior architecture students, has been published by YEM Publishing.

In this book, Prof.Dr. M. İlhan Altan explains the tools, basic rules, and methods of "technical drawing" in an easy-to-understand, simple language, accompanied by illustrations, specifically to develop the drawing expression, skills, and abilities of architecture and interior architecture students.

“Architects often explain their designs to others through drawings. These drawings are organized according to technical drawing rules. In other words, it is important for a thought to transform into a 'ruled drawing' and for these drawings to be understood by everyone. Therefore, technical drawing rules are, in a sense, the language of communication and understanding among professionals.
This book aims to develop students' drawing expression, skills, and abilities. However, assuming that students are familiar with topics covered in other courses (e.g., Building Science), these areas have been excluded to avoid repetition; the objective is to learn the fundamental rules that must be followed when drawing technical plans.
The drawing principles for plans, sections, and elevations of single-story buildings with different geometric shapes are demonstrated. The ultimate goal is to learn how to correctly draw a building's plans as technical drawings. In these drawings, Building Science has been excluded to prevent unnecessary complications in understanding technical drawings. In sections, foundations are assumed to start 80 cm below ground level with a width of 50 cm in load-bearing masonry systems, while in roof drawings, ridge height, eaves level, and roof pitch have been determining factors. Except for a few examples, the roof pitch is 33%, and the roof thickness is determined by a standard thickness.
In sections and elevations related to sloping terrain and building relationships; what needs to be specified in project drawings at various scales has been written and shown.”

The book consists of the following main sections:
• Tools and Equipment Used in Drawing Technical Drawings
• Line and Lettering Rules
• Scale
• Projection Methods
• Drawing Building Sections and Elevations
• Stair Drawings
• Dimensioning
• Terrain Sections and Building Relationships
• Architectural Project Drawings
• Project Reinforcement Elements

The "Project Technique" lecture notes prepared by the author many years ago at Yıldız Technical University were prepared for publication by Y. Architect N. Dilge Karakuş from the Istanbul Gedik University Department of Architecture and presented to the readers in this book.
