The amount of literature written on the role of consumption in capitalist societies is enormous. The fact that contemporary capitalist society is also known as consumer society explains why this is so. Given such an important issue, is it a coincidence that architecture often approaches the topic of consumption spaces with such little consideration and in a manner almost devoid of aesthetic quality?
