Product Description
In architecture, the design process spans from urban-scale design to point details. Design begins with a general overview of the subject and gradually delves into specifics, concluding with point details. Detail design, on the other hand, requires knowledge of materials, construction, and sometimes ergonomics. Details are meant to instruct architects, engineers, and other practitioners involved in the building production process on how to construct the building. Although connection details in an architectural structure, which is a system of connections from foundation to roof, are transferred onto paper in two dimensions, they are designed in three dimensions, and their on-site application is pre-envisioned.
Unconsciously adopting details from a source without proper research into their suitability is a common behavior among students, and even practicing professionals. The real-world implications of this can be faulty manufacturing, problems encountered during application, and increased costs. Even when taking a detail from any source, knowledge of construction is necessary to make the correct choice.
Conveying knowledge of building and construction, that is, structure and construction, to students and ensuring that students adequately perceive it, is an important subject in architectural education.
This work is an educational book specifically aimed at architecture students. The book includes both traditional and contemporary constructions and uses numerous examples. It is believed to fill an important gap in architectural education. It is hoped that, in addition to architecture students, students of civil engineering, interior design, landscape architecture, and those involved in professions related to construction will also benefit from this book.
