Product Description

Light has always been used effectively by artists for centuries, reflecting reality to us in a multidimensional way through their works. In the last century, cultural and technological developments, which caused a change in concepts, initiated a new era where reality and unreality coexist, thus engaging the creative part of our brain. This book, which explains how Op Art, defined as "different" in the field of visual arts due to its scientific content, emerged, the theories it is based on, its general characteristics, and Op artists with their works, serves as an important reference book while also explaining Op Art to art lovers in a simple language. "...

Op Art, which evokes eternity with its lines, as Schelling put it, presents "the infinite in the finite" and brings the recipient of the art concept, which transformed with the 20th century, to the forefront. The movement's artistic understanding, centered on perceptual illusion, aims to eliminate the individual differences of its recipients, such as education and age. In other words, the recipient is, in a sense, stripped of particularity. The movement, which operates from a universally applicable platform where individual differences are not influential, utilizes the functioning of the perception mechanism. Therefore, creating the same visual effect in every individual constitutes the reason for the movement's existence. The recipient no longer needs a certain cultural background to interpret the artwork. Op Art, which aims to overcome individual and cultural differences from the perspective of the recipient, also eliminates individual differences arising from artistic talent and identity by supporting artistic creativity with technology. The assertion that Op Art, which raises the question "Are we dependent on technology, or is technology dependent on us?", paved the way for Digital Art, which is currently on the agenda, gives relevance to the conducted study.
