Product Description

The book titled "A Gift to Prof. Dr. Zeynep Ahunbay: Writings on the Research, Documentation, and Protection of Monuments and Sites" was recently published by the Istanbul Metropolitan Branch of the Chamber of Architects. The graphic design and application were undertaken by Ebru Laçin Kilci on behalf of the Architectural Foundation's Economic Enterprise. The book was prepared for publication by Zeynep Ahunbay's three former doctoral students: Deniz Mazlum, Umut Almaç, and Esra Kudde.
The book compiles 35 original articles prepared by Zeynep Ahunbay's master's and/or doctoral students and close colleagues. Part I, titled "Architectural History Research," contains 10 articles. One of these articles is the last piece written by our esteemed professor, Prof. Afife Batur, whom we lost on December 16, 2018. Part II of the book consists of 15 articles presenting documentation studies and conservation proposals at the single-building scale. Part III, titled "Urban, Rural, and Natural Environment Protection," also presents 10 articles.
The authors of the articles in the book, listed in alphabetical order by surname, are: Hande Akarca, Nur Akın, H. Demet Aksu, Umut Almaç, E. Görün Arun, Afife Batur, İrem Bezek Temel, Ela Bozkurt, Ömer Dabanlı, İclal Dinçer, Esra Ekşi Balcı, H. This commemorative book, the product of over three years of work, is dedicated to Prof. Dr. Zeynep Ahunbay, one of our country's iconic figures in the field of cultural heritage conservation and restoration. It is hoped that this book will be a valuable resource for those working in this field. Our wish is for it to draw attention to the issues of conservation and restoration, which are increasingly becoming a priority and require careful consideration in our country's agenda, and to serve as an inspiration for similar studies.
