Product Description
YEM Yayın's highly popular "Projects Buildings" book series, whose editions were sold out, has been re-published with no compromise on content, in easily portable sizes, and at more economical prices.
New books to be added to the series will also be published in the same format, aiming to provide readers with access to quality books at a more affordable price.
The eighth book in the “Projects/Buildings” series, "Hotels," features selected hotel and accommodation projects by prominent architects from Turkey and around the world. The book introduces projects for 26 tourism structures realized in 16 different locations worldwide, including Turkey, by 26 architects/architectural groups in the last few years.
A hotel, initially born out of the necessity for temporary accommodation and fulfilling only basic needs, is a type of building that today requires different design and construction solutions due to changing business and lifestyle patterns and varying accommodation purposes. Naturally, the approach regarding purpose, function, design, etc., cannot be the same between a hotel to be built in a ski resort and a hotel to be added to an international airport structure. The book "Hotels" brings together distinguished examples that offer solutions to the diverse accommodation needs of contemporary people who travel much more for business, holidays, culture, recreation, etc., compared to previous periods. The book covers projects from boutique hotels to holiday villages, from apart-hotels to convention and business hotels, offering a broad perspective on building typology, the use of modern and traditional building materials, modern construction techniques, adaptation to topography, and architectural and urban fabric, among other topics.
The book brings together examples from important architects and architectural firms from Turkey and around the world, such as Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster, Frank Gehry, Arata Isozaki, Has Mimarlık, Erdoğan Elmas, Tuncay Çavdar, Emre Arolat, and Gökhan Avcıoğlu: from a boutique "wine hotel" located among vineyards in Elciego to a "cave hotel" carved into the fairy chimneys in Göreme and adapted to the topography; from a "hospital hotel" in Gebze for the accommodation of patients' relatives to a "luxury resort" in Belek where every luxury is considered for guests; from a "boutique hotel" created by converting a tiny apartment in Beyoğlu to a "multi-purpose hotel" in Abu Dhabi, realized with the aim of "displaying technological and cultural power," featuring both a Formula 1 track and a marina.
