Today, theories about museums are as vibrant as the museums themselves. They form a powerful vein of critical thought. "Museum and Critical Thought" presents a selection of texts to which contemporary museology repeatedly refers. These texts examine the representations of modern social and political life, modern culture, and urbanization movements within museums. By surveying Western museums such as the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, the Centre Pompidou, the Tate galleries, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Metropolitan Museum, and many others, they illuminate various symbols unique to the museum culture and history behind the scenes, and scrutinize their concepts. In a sense, they discuss the policies that define art management.
