Product Description

Sedad Eldem, the Most Important Figure in Turkish Architecture, Architecture Monograph in Turkish after 18 years...

A Life Dedicated to Creating a Modern Turkish Architectural Language Sedad Hakkı Eldem worked in architecture in Turkey for over fifty years, serving as a faculty member and conducting research. He is the most important figure in our country's architecture and played a fundamental role in the visual formation of modern Turkey.

This book, first published in English by Concept Media Publishing House in 1987, and which, with its competent content, was the first significant publication reflecting the work of this extraordinary person, became an important resource for Sedad Eldem's recognition abroad.

The introductory text of this monograph was written by the famous Austrian architect Hans Hollein, who has long been interested in Turkish-German relations. Suha Özkan provides a background and framework for the architect's practices; Sibel Bozdoğan analyzes the topics Eldem addressed over the years, revealing the architect's work in some fundamental areas. Engin Yenal has brought the texts to a whole by showcasing more personal aspects of Eldem's development. The section containing a complete chronology of Eldem's works compiles information about both the architect's life and his creations.

The publication of this book in Turkish is the repayment of a long-overdue debt of gratitude for Sedad Hakkı Eldem, whom we lost on September 7, 1988, and for his efforts contributed to Turkish architecture. 176 pages, consisting of 110 pages of color photographs, over 250 black-and-white photographs and drawings, printed on coated paper, with a dust jacket
