In general, looking at the content of navigation, it can be divided into terrestrial, electronic, mathematical, and celestial sections. It is possible to perform ship navigation with each of these methods.

In this book, terrestrial navigation, which is the most basic method of navigation, is explained with graphic drawings, and necessary applications related to them are included.

Mathematical navigation, another method of navigation, is explained in a simple and clear language and supported with examples that students of all levels can understand. Undoubtedly, the most preferred navigation method today is electronic navigation. There are very few resources available today regarding this method, which emerged in the recent past and rapidly became widespread. For this reason, the subject of electronic navigation has been examined in detail, and the latest technological devices integrated into ships' navigation systems have been explained. Celestial navigation has not been included in this book at all. This method has been excluded due to its being a different category and its area of use almost completely disappearing.

This book, prepared with up-to-date information after long efforts, will serve as a resource for navigation courses for students studying at all levels of maritime schools that provide training at the operational level of deck. This work, which also serves as preparation for candidates taking officer examinations, is a bedside book for officers keeping navigation watches.
