Poetry - Architecture | The Violation of a Building

Especially since the Renaissance, there have been those who rejected the association of architecture with buildings and construction, conceiving of it instead as art, as poetry, or even as philosophy. These dissenting views opposed the reduction of architecture to mere function and utility. According to them, architecture consists of rituals, statues brought to life by sacred spirits, labyrinths housing cosmic creatures, semiotic temples, utopias of a golden age... It is an endless realm of imagination and desire. Therefore, architecture can only be architecture by violating the building. The origin of architecture lies in the non-building. Bahar Avanoğlu first conducts a comprehensive archaeology of this tradition, which understands architecture as poetry and criticism, and then presents four texts on the concept of the Unbuilt, its contemporary expression.
