This book has two serious objectives. The first is the concept of equilibrium in a body, which is the subject of statics. The other is the strength of materials, which is, in short, the subject of mechanics of materials. This work constructs the subjects in the book using scalar mechanics instead of the concept of vectors, which is difficult for some engineering departments to understand. Thus, static and strength of materials problems have been solved with a very simple mathematical background. Three-dimensional problems are not covered in this book.
Emphasis was placed on three-dimensional drawings, which are of great importance in understanding the subjects, and instead of lengthy paragraphs, a concise text and a carefully designed figure with necessary details were preferred. Students generally find it much easier to understand the physical events they read when they can visualize them. Therefore, for ease of viewing, the text was written on the left side of the page and the figures were drawn on the right side. Thus, the subject being explained and its corresponding figure will always be side by side, and you will not distract yourself by searching for figures within the book. The book contains 61 example problems and 356 end-of-chapter problems. In addition, the appendices of the book include an English-Turkish dictionary of technical terms within the scope of the book's subjects.
