Static Strength

Prof. Dr. A. Yalçın AKÖZ Yalçın Aköz was born in Karaman in 1938. He completed his high school education at Kabataş High School for Boys and graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Civil Engineering, which he entered in 1956, in June 1961. After completing his military service between 1961 and 1963, he started working as an assistant at the Department of Technical Mechanics and General Strength at ITU Faculty of Civil Engineering in November 1963. He completed his doctorate in 1969 and conducted his postdoctoral studies at Princeton University in the USA between April 1969 and July 1971. He received the title of associate professor on November 29, 1973, and was appointed as an associate professor at the Department of Technical Mechanics and General Strength in December 1973 and as a full professor on June 7, 1980. In January 2005, he retired as the Head of the Department of Mechanics at ITU Faculty of Civil Engineering. After his retirement, he established the Structure-Earthquake Master's program and the Civil Engineering Department at Maltepe University. He is still working at the same university. A. Yalçın Aköz, a member of TUMTMK (Turkish National Committee for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics), served as the committee chairman for two terms between (1998-2001) and (2007-2010). He has over fifty national and international scientific publications on experimental mechanics, thermoelasticity, finite elements, and numerical methods, as well as textbooks such as Dynamics, Solved Dynamics, Statics-Strength of Materials, Energy Methods, and Structural Statics.
