Water Resources Engineering

Although Turkey is a country rich in water resources, the number of Turkish books written about water resources is quite small. This book has been prepared to contribute to filling this gap. The content of the book is limited to the topics of History of Hydraulic Structures, Sediment Transport in Rivers, River Regulations, Diversion Weirs, Dams, Hydropower Plants, Irrigation-Drainage, Integrated Water Resources Management, and Planning of Water Resources. In the preparation of the book, I utilized my lecture notes from the Hydraulic Structures course I taught at Karadeniz Technical University for many years, as well as both domestic and foreign sources. In this context, I consider it my duty to thank the authors whose works I cited in the bibliography. This book has been prepared to comprehensively provide information on hydraulic structures, especially to students of the Civil Engineering Department. I believe it will also be a useful resource for engineers working in practice. I would like to thank civil engineer Egemen Aras for his help in arranging the figures and preparing the drawings.
